Discussion about
I found a temporary rental in this area and I don't know if that specific block seems safe, if it is very noisy, etc. If you know the area, please let me know!
Ahhh, Mimi again. Its much worse at night above 125th than below, IMO, and I am a big guy. However, 5th is rather busy, so you might be ok. Its a bit remote from things like restaurants and such.
Tks Jason10006!
mimi, i went one night to Terri Kennedy's yoga class just half a block from there (she's amazing!). walking back home from her place at night was down right scary, i walked through 125th. this was a year ago, but i avoided going that direction at night. anyway, she's giving free classes not far from where you would be and during the day, just in case you are into yoga:
P.S. 154
250 West 127th Street (between 7th & 8th)
Phone: 212-864-2400
Sessions on wednesdays:
4:00pm - 5:15pm
5:30pm - 6:30pm
IMHO, life is too short (and could be shorter) to live at 5th and 128th. Of course, YMMV.
Tks admin! I am more familiar with Mt Morris Pk area, but I found this furnished rental to stay while I look for properties during summer. If anybody is thinking of subletting in Harlem from June 13 to July 15th, let me know. I need 3 bedrooms.
Well we are moving out June 1, if you want I can give you the email of the condo owner where I live. Its 3/2.5 wwith WD in unit, mostly furnished. We are moving because we pay 4k per month which is just absurd in this market. An identical unit in the same building just rented for 3k. She dragged her feet on negotiating and we said "later days." But I bet she woudl take 3.
What does "later days" mean? Is that a Mormon thing?
Hi, Mimi.
Hi Jason,
yes, I am interested in renting, but I don't know if they will do it for 6 weeks...this is temporary while I lok at properties there and in the UWS
Hi Alanhart! I never forgot your help. Forever grateful.
I live on West 131st between 5th and Lenox, and never felt unsafe in the neighborhood, even walking home at night from the subway at 125th--and I'm a small white male!
mimi,
It's always a good idea to have a recent photo in the posession of a friend or relative that lives below 96th street. Also medical history, meds, blood type etc. Frequently, some of you uptowners go missing and, when they show your picture on the evening news or on the cover of the Post it always nice to have a flattering picture on hand. I not saying it's always foul play. Some might be abducted by space men.
Good luck...brave soldier
