Katie Holmes is no stranger to New York City, having famously decamped here in 2012 in her successful effort to shed herself of a Hollywood box office-busting husband (Tom Cruise) for the sake of raising their daughter (Suri) in a Scientology-free zone. Now the TV, screen and stage actress has taken up residence in a Chelsea condo, according to the New York Post.
The 2,400 square-foot penthouse is at 201 West 17th Street, a unit that has been sold and re-sold a few times over the years and had most recently been listed for sale at $6.5 million. But the unit was taken off the market last month, when Holmes agreed to pay $25,000 a month for the “ethereal penthouse,” according to the Post.
While Holmes did purchase a home in the Calabasas neighborhood of Los Angeles last year to give her daughter a little room to roam, she’s still got both feet in the Big Apple. Her new 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom rental comes with a chef’s kitchen, serene master suite, a wood-burning fireplace and sports views of the Empire State Building to the World Trade Center.
