The numbers are a little daunting when it comes to the odds of landing an affordable unit at One Columbus Place, but hey — you never know when it might be your time to win a housing lottery. This could be the one.

One Columbus Place in Hell’s Kitchen contains 700 rental units.

One Columbus Place has 700 apartments, but only 179 are being made available for this lottery.

According to the housing lottery announcement, once you have submitted your application by the deadline of Oct. 18, 2017, a randomized process will select 7,500 applicants, who will be put on a waiting list. Then, as units become available, qualified applicants will be contacted, “in order of log number and preference and invited to an interview to continue the process of determining your eligibility.” Further, the waitlist established will be active for no more than two years, at which time a new lottery will be held to refresh the waiting list.

Eligible applicants for this waiting list opportunity must earn at 130 percent of the area median income. Those ranges are shown in the chart below, but it’s a noteworthy opportunity given how few housing lotteries target earners at this income level.

The rental complex contains amenities like concierge service, a fitness center, laundry facilities, a children’s playroom and residents’ lounge and patio.

Online applications can be made through the NYC Housing Connect site. To request an application by mail, send a self-addressed envelope to: ONE COLUMBUS PLACE c/o Urban Associates, LLC., P.O. Box 230939 New York, NY 10023. Applications must be postmarked or submitted online no later than Oct. 18, 2017.
