Fifty newly constructed apartments are now being offered through a housing lottery in the Mt. Eden section of the Bronx. The units are at 1561 Walton Avenue in a brand-new, 11-story building from Settlement Housing Fund and the Briarwood Organization that was smartly designed by Edelman Sultan Knox Wood Architects.

Eligible applicants must have an income that’s 40 percent, 50 percent, 60 percent or 80 percent of the area median income (see chart below). Units range from 1, 2 and 3 bedrooms. Building amenities include on-site resident manager, rear patio, laundry room and bike storage.  The building is noted for its natural lighting in corridors and a generous rooftop terrace.

According to the lottery page, a percentage of units will be set aside for mobility-disabled applicants (5%) and vision- or hearing-disabled applicants (2%). Also, preference for a percentage of units goes to residents of Bronx Community Board 4 (50%) and municipal employees (5%). To apply online, go to NYC Housing Connect.
