This meticulously restored and maintained brownstone was designed by Thom & Wilson for the developers John T. and James A. Farley in 1890. Built in a suave and reserved Renaissance style, 131 West 71st has truly unique and elegant details, all of which have been perfectly restored to their original beauty. All bathrooms and the wonderful kitchen have been renovated, but in keeping with the period, are done in natural stones and muted colors, often incorporating original woodwork.
Since 1891 there have only been 4 owners. The second one, the Everson family, owned the house from 1896 to 1980 when the house was donated to the neighboring church, the Grace & St. Paul's Lutheran Church. In 1993 the Church sold the house.
