Helen: I don't know how familiar you are with this location. IMO, it's a nice neighborhood to live in. First Avenue is a little busier than York, but both streets are very low-key and residential. Sorry, I don't know the specific building that you are looking at, but if you have any questions about the area, I'd be happy to answer them.

Thank you, lobster. The place does not seem to have much turnover which is interesting. Neither sales nor rentals. Wonder why it is not a by-owner since it doesn't seem to be very active that way.

Helen: The owner might have hired a broker to show the apartment for him/her. Just check to see if the apartment has a commission that you would need to pay if you rented it or if the owner is willing to share the commission with you. Having a washer/dryer is a big plus.

Helen: Just to clarify, I meant to say that you should check if you'll need to pay a fee commission to the broker.

the price is high for the neighborhood and it's a 4th floor walk-up.

No lie..I actually live in this building...on the top floor and it's only 3 flights of stairs to the top. It's a great location btw First Ave & York which means you are two blocks away from Carl Schulz Park with one of the best dog runs in the city (although under construction now). Quiet street and all the neighbors are quiet too. Owner is also landlord and they are VERY nice...and very responsive to any repairs or issues. I'm very happy living there.

Licarijo: I'm actually looking to move in too. Why did you move out? Did the older couple ever complain about your noise level? How did the washer/dryer work for you? The broker fee is 15% of one years rent! Do you think this apt is worth it? Helenwaite: did you move in?

Hi Christa, I just noticed that you had asked a question. No, I never even got to see this place, alas.
