Discussion about
Why is Park Ave. south the most ghetto street ? I can't think of one other street that's supposedly in a nice area that is so ghetto. I know they used to have hookers and the like at night and still do but even in the day time where i work on 28th street it's almost like Ave D. during work hours; except D I bet has less beggars
What are you smoking? Park Avenue South may not be Park Avenue in the 80s or the West Village but it is hardly ghetto. When you make statements like that you simply expose yourself as being an idiot. Sorry but its true.
Those aren't hookers, teenage girls just dress like that now.
whats ghetto to you? to me beggars everywhere all day every day, and hookers at night is ghetto. maybe that's not ghetto to you but it is to me. i worked in midtown before that; not ghetto. west vill not ghetto. ave c and d especially d ghetto. 8th ave ghetto. park ave south around 30th street ghetto. i know what im saying ignorant fool
Actually it's really 28th street that's ghetto and park south between 29 and 28 street. Ok so why is that ghetto. And why all of of 28th
Oh yeah not to mention the welfare recips that are always coming to and fro; but where
I've passed 29th-28th Park South and 28th from Park to 3rd several times in recent months in the
evening and late at night, and have never seen a hooker. Nor large ##s of beggars or street people.
Those aren't hookers, they are Russian spies.
Fine - you (wrongly) think it is ghetto. What's your point? Do you intend to list every ghetto neighborhood in NYC for us?
There is a swinger's club on 27th between 5th and madison. Maybe the hooker's are looking for somebody to take to le trapeze...

oh the irony!
not ghetto, but "dirty"
south midtown (generally 41st to about 24th) is a weird area... not exactly midtown, not exactly downtown..
filthy streets, people selling their wares on the street, fat people, and lost tourists...
but yeh you could say a throwback to those craving the 'old days on NY' despite it being 10 X safer today
I think by "hookers" he means your typical bridge and tunnel girl in town for a night of fun. Its great to some, sad to others, but non-prostitute women dress like they are in Pussycat Dolls video for a normal night on the town these days.
the subway station and the mickey d's on park and 28th, accounts for the loitering, for sure.
Yeah, Les Halles. Its a homeless people bar, I tell you.
Sick_man it is true that on Park Ave North, there is no MaCdo and on Park Ave South there is one. It is also true that diversity which was part of this city history is reflected in only few remaining areas. If you are looking for a "look alike" group than Park Ave South and 28 is not for you. on a personal note, I found your comments to be racist and sick.
"Oh yeah not to mention the welfare recips that are always coming to and fro; but where"
...say, what?! Are you checking people for their Benefits cards now? P.A.S. is too rough for you? And, you have no problem admitting it? Pshaw.
Stickman,
Move back to the burbs, gated community seems your speed,
Don't tell me what to do. I'm single. If i had a family and the money I would. The ny times magazine is written for elites by elites. Not you. It's up to me to decide what My opinion is what is offensive and needs fixing in my city . Not you.
"fat people"
That made me laugh. This is a great thread.
Incidentally, I almost bought a place on east 28th about 7 or 8 years ago. I walked by the building last year, and was glad I didn't, because the block actually looked worse. (It wasn't great when I was looking to buy, though.)
"It's up to me to decide what My opinion is what is offensive and needs fixing in my city "
Well my opinion is that some of those ghetto people ought to stab you and take your wallet next time they see you. You know, to buy new clothes there welfare checks don't provide them. Preferably in the eye, so you don't have to be offended when looking at them.
Hey, its my opinion!
where are you from farmboy? I guess you're cool now cuz you live downtown?
thanks Jason for your pointless stupid ignorant hate-filled comment advocating illegal violence on top of it all. I guess your not the sharpest knife in the drawer
SICK_MAN, you have made your point.can you start a new thread which is less offensive? If you can not contribute politely, just get a shrink, you will learn once you grow up.
Isn't this all sort-of a joke? I liken Stick_man's routine to Mac from "It's Always Sunny..."
Of course, now, the appropriate response would be to assure me it's not an act.
