Discussion about The Clermont at 444 East 82nd Street in Yorkville
Here is a resent email discussion started by the buildings super:
Residents of Clermont Tower :
A possible consequence that has arisen as a result of the on going window installation is the appearance of mice in the building. While it is still not building wide, I would like to make the following information known in an effort to avert it becoming one.
The building as you know as always provided exterminating service twice a month. Just recently we increased this service to the first four Fridays of every month. As usual you provide your name to the front desk staff and they will write you down for the service. I would also like to advise you that if you find it difficult to be home when the service is rendered you have the option of leaving the key at the front desk and one of the doormen will escort and remain with the exterminator while he performs his duty. Please cooperate and if you notice mice report it to the front desk in the form of a Work Order, a note to me, E-mail me or you may contact management. The idea being to avert a building wide problem. Your cooperation is vital.
Respectfully
Tony Ruiz

I do not think the windows are to blame for the "Infestation of Mice" I myself along with my twin 6 year old daughters live here since 7/27/06. I understand there has been a on going problem with mice since "Ceilo" Broke Ground. I have never heard about..or seen a exterminator at this building. The first time I saw droppings.(.that I did not even want to admit to myself ) I put out a work order..2nd, 3rd, 4th, No reply) I called in my own exterminator. He plugged up the holes with steel wool ect. All was ok for a while (or I think so) the problem is back again. I was asked from the professional exterminators what was being done? From the basement up? Ect.?? I do not have a reply.
Bottom line here. This building is taken care of soo bad..It is fifthly!! and a HEALTH HAZARD! All involved here with the exception of the Doormen and a few porters should be ASHAMED of themselves.

Agreed. Clermont is a real mess.
I need to see some indication from the building mgmt that
they both
a) understand the problems
and
b) plan to address the issues soon.
As yet, I've seen no indication of either.

actually the sticky traps work quite well. just today it caught something. unfortunately it was my dog! i have no idea how long the poor dog had the glue trap stuck to her butt as i was at work and the kids at school. but when we returned home in the evening, the dog had to have her tail cut off in order to remove her from the trap. thing is, the trap was way in the back and under a peice of furniture and no way for the dog to sit on it. meaning only one thing...
something dragged the trap out into the room, and got away. last month a snap trap was dragged out from under my oven and left in the middle of my kitchen floor. it was snapped, but the mouse was not in it. i say mouse with strong hopes that it was in fact only a mouse and not something larger, quicker and stronger. i shudder to use the word rat.
i am still waiting for a response to my request to have the holes behind my appliances closed up. i have had none to date. but as long as there is a work order request form with the doormen l will continue to leave a paper trail and collect the pink copies. all of them.
please do not count on me to clean the building that i pay market value rent to live in. this is supposed to be a full service, building with a maintanence staff payed to do just that, maintain. i have a full time job, and feel that i am not asking too much, when i ask for the service that is routine in a rental building.
Stop complaining to us who can do nothing about the problem & call downtown & report the problem to the authorities. If you do have work going on in the neighborhood that will make those little critters scurry & look for new housing. I prefer those snap trip - Voila, instant cadaver - but you must keep it somewhere where the dog can't get at it. I like to keep something handy, though, just in case, because twice I've had the experience where they've only been 'winged' by the trap & then they are limping around in a world of pain & need to be dispatched. A good whack with something hard & heavy & they die really easily. Have fun - & don't put up with those things!!!!!!!
In regards to fishstyx's comments, I've only lived there like 3 months but the elevator on my side of the building hasn't broken once. I also have not seen one mouse. The carpet in my floor's hallway is admittedly dirtier than any building I've lived in.
It's definitely not a perfect building - I just wanted to set the record straight when someone might be overstating their case.
I can't understand if you feel so disgusted why don't you move out ! I too have seen the doormen in the building they are a bunch of kiss ass who will tell you whatever you want to hear just to save their christmas bonuses and you know what they will get it !!!We have a bunch of pigs living in the building starting with 14B who goes and tries to be a boyscout .Only to be exempt from the MCI that is being incurred on us tenants I'm moving at the end of the month so goodriddens to you winers .
HA! just found this online.... you people are a bunch of losers. 'Squeeker' is right - why don't you move out... OH WAIT... let me guess? you are all rent stabalized huh? That says it all. freaking pay normal rent like the rest of us and maybe you'll get what you pay for. you should be SO lucky to live in a residental high rise building with amazing doormen, and pay under 2000 for an apt as big as you have. seriously... HAve you seen what's out there?
And for the person who posted the response about the dog and the tail being cut off-LAUGHS- I know you live on the 10th floor on the west side, and your dogs tail is FINE -- You are the biggest exaggerator in the buidling. (i saw you recently in the street - yes, i'm an ex-tenant who has moved out) but I know your whiny voice and your little white furball). what a bunch of loser tenants in that building. the only nice people were the doormen and the super. I NEVER had any problems with him, and I never had to tip them to get service... just goes to show what actually being respectful and nice will get you. Try it. Gosh, just reading this makes me realize what LOSERS still live there (many who pay peanuts in rent and feel entitled to anything and everything...) grow the eff up.
anyone know about the rentals in the building..? and why you have to go with a broker to see the apartment and pay a broker fee?
