Discussion about
So how "pet friendly" can a building be when it doesn't allow dogs? Why write something like this in a listing - trying to appeal to cat owners? http://streeteasy.com/nyc/sale/528516-coop-70-east-10th-street-greenwich-village-new-york

Well, those with pot-bellied pigs, parrots, gerbils, boas, and ferrets should be pleased...

"The Stewart House is pet friendly but sorry, no dogs allowed."

Just like my building. We did have dogs, but a couple of them barked for every hour that the owner was not home. Some dogs have separation anxiety and cannot be left alone. Most dogs don't and are not a problem. I'm not really a cat person, but you have to hand it to cats. They might scratch your face off, but they won't keep anyone awake at night.

Unless they're in the litter box, trying to pass a Christmas tree icicle.

Actually cats are worse than dogs as far as keeping you awake at night. They are nocturnal and will meow and jump on sleeping owners (or scratch at doors) to wake you up so they can play or get fed. Dogs will usually sleep the entire night through, separation anxiety or not.

True, and building management/boards don't care as long as the cats don't bother anyone else. Come to think of it, boards would also give Kangeroos the heave ho since they jump around. I guess that leaves fish.
