Discussion about
Can anyone recommend a moving company? We have used Bekin in the past, but they are booked. Thanks
Wow, a lot of threads are appearing recently about topics that have never been discussed before.
Just today alone we have a mature adult thread, an immature thread, and now this.

Need to keep info fresh. You are not relying on last years info for your 2012 fantasy team.

Divine Moving, absolutely reliable, I feel 100% recommending them, I have moved half a dozen times with them and have been very happy each time. Additionally I am not an easy move with large artwork and a lot of heavy architectural salvage and they did great!
Personally I wasn't thrilled with Divine. Items were haphazardly packed, they lost a key component to our bed frame and dunned us for a tip halfway through the move. They tried sneaking in used boxes even though we were being charged full price per box and were promised all containers would be new (don't want bedbugs, you know?). We also felt the charge-by-the-hour team dawdled a bit more than necessary.
If we ever have to move again we'd likely go back to FlatRate, which we thought did an overall better job.
how much tip do you give for 3 guys moving for 3 hours at $600?
btw, both buildings have elevators
We used Imperial Moving last time. Sales contact is Yuval Kravitz, crew was headed by Alon. Great job, Alon is a machine.
Where are you headed this time, ekartash?
I think a 20% tip is considered good, msbrooklyn. I did something huge last time (I think 40%) because of the good job they had done, the fact that the flat-rate quote was highly-discounted by the moving company given the season, and the fact that the crew ended up spending significantly more time than allocated by the flat-rate quote.
Even when I was moving rental to rental, I always to did my best to sell off most of everything and start fresh when it came to the furniture.
Just always wanted a fresher start and most furniture that looks right in one place doesnt translate to the new one.
It did take a lot of stress off the actual moves. Mostly boxes and clothing.
I used OZ on my last move they were good and made what i thought would be stressful move non-stressful.
They were quite accurate about the time it would take (tho so was i about how much stuff i had).
The crew chief i had on mines was an guy by the name of Andy. i think often with any moving company, it comes down to which crew you get.
But Snuffles, all of your belongings were soft and unbreakable, right?
Russians are universally known to be the best movers. I used moving your way. Was cheap, guys were nice and was cheap (think $108 for four guys). Worked really fast. I don't know if I would use them if I was moving fine china or something, but they did the job well and for a good price. THink it was under $500, Oz quoted me $2000.
Russians also are the best hockey players.
Celebrity is great.
HB: I usually try and avoid looking at your posts and I find it sad that you think such an asinine statement might provoke any type of response. Greatest sporting series of all time? Who won? That is what won the cold war. What were you guys doing: ping pong?
Ottawanyc:
You just responded to huntersburg's statement that he posted 18 hours ago.

You clicked on it Ottawa. You know you did.

Ottawanyc will not be reading your post.

But you did.

But it did

Don't know, but in this battle, I won, you lost.
I had a good experience with Veteran Movers NYC. Good reviews on Yelp as well.
HB and Truth: Given my direct response to HB, I am not sure it was necessary to confirm that I read it. Was meant to be subtle. Will avoid and subtlety in future lest confusion ensue. Fear my original inclination was the proper course.
Hah! So you finally confirm that you read it. Gotcha!
* sarcasm off *
How big a loser must you be when your life revolves around thinking you "caught" people reading your posts?
Let me guess, you have a proprietary loser rating scale that you use.
Separately, why haven't you told us which races you believe are prone to being heavier?
By the way, thanks for telling me when sarcasm was off.
Manor Moving
How about moving all our stuff from a storage unit in NJ to our newly renovated place in about 8 months..any thoughts on that or the same as building to building? No packing required but I want a lot of help unpacking and putting things in place. I've used United and some others and really it was just unloaded even though they touted how they would put everything in place (with me there of course). I still ended up doing half of it myself..just unpacked and put it on counters and floor. Not what I'm looking for this time. Thanks for any helpful advice. Regards, Leslie
Veteran Movers NYC (veteranmoversnyc.com) were GREAT! I stupidly went with another moving company two weeks ago after getting several bids (other comp was just $100 less) and then the other crew showed up Sat morning and started saying my move would be over a thousand more than their estimate! I called Veteran Movers in a bit of a panic and they were amazing, got a crew pulled together that day with guys arriving at noon, 1 and 2pm as they were free and got me all packed and moved. They were friendly, efficient, careful with my stuff, honest and more. I recommend them 10000% and will be using them on my next move for sure. Couldn't ask for anything better from movers.
