Neighbors Property Taxes much Lower than Mine

Discussion about
Why would two apartments that are identical in size and spec and have the same percent common interest have substantially different RE taxes (15000 vs 11000 per year). Is there any way to appeal mine (the higher one) based on the lower value of the neighbors?

Assessments weren't always based on PCI. You can go through the Department of Finance to have the condo's taxes reallocated by PCI: http://www.nyc.gov/html/dof/html/pdf/08pdf/condoaffidavit.pdf

don't ask what your country do for you, ask what you did for your country. it's a good thing that you pay more tax

Your neighbor might hsve exemptions... enhanced STAR, senior citizen, Veterans, income level, disable. These are the most commom. There are 2/3 others.
