Oct. 3 (Bloomberg) -- French entrepreneurs have a new mascot -- the pigeon.
Using the bird’s role in French slang as the “sucker,” owners of startups have formed a group dubbed “Les Pigeons” to show that President Francois Hollande’s new taxes make them the fall guys for France’s economic woes. They are protesting the almost doubling of the tax rate on capital gains generated from selling a business in Hollande’s budget for 2013.
and this has to do with nyc real estate?
"I do not know a single startup founder who accept the idea that creating a company, in which it will invest all his savings and years of effort often without a salary, must then give to the State 60.5 % of gain when he sells his company if he succeeds. It should be known that 9 out of 10 startups fail, and in this case nobody will refund the founder. Then, on the 39.5% that he will be left with, it will pay 1 to 2% per year, every year for the ISF ("Wealth Tax"). And when he dies, the state will take 45% of what remains."
This is sad because France has been the cradle of some very nice companies in high-tech and Internet domains, many of them rapidly become leaders in France or even in Europe.

Socialism is driving France over the cliff and Holland is driving the bus.

Russia now attracts a new generation of westerners, chiefly with its 13 per cent income tax rate, something that might look pretty good if you are a French actor facing a 75 per cent rate in your home country.
It was certainly looking good enough for Gérard Depardieu on Thursday after a decree by his friend Vladimir Putin granting him Russian citizenship, which saw the president honouring a public pledge he made two weeks ago
I can understand Depardieu's disenchantment with France on one level, but he loses all credibility when he chooses Russia.
Depardieu lost credibility when he went from http://www.google.com/imgres?hl=en&safe=off&tbo=d&rlz=1C1LENP_enUS474US474&biw=1101&bih=619&tbm=isch&tbnid=iL8jH4T5jO2itM:&imgrefurl=http://brattysramblings.blogspot.com/&docid=Be4jEyE-_Sf75M&imgurl=http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-rL_MRMFjoAA/UNpv04DyCUI/AAAAAAAACdg/ObrWcJKCfgM/s1600/Gerard%252BDepardieu.jpg&w=420&h=334&ei=7TnnUOr0EIX8rAHFioGgCQ&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=808&vpy=126&dur=1240&hovh=200&hovw=252&tx=183&ty=110&sig=114437829583531461760&page=1&tbnh=144&tbnw=230&start=0&ndsp=16&ved=1t:429,r:4,s:0,i:103

The big Dep loses all cred according to the streeteasy community organizer and her BS?!
ANSAmed) - PARIS, FEBRUARY 5 - Between 2009-2012, more than 1,000 French factories shut down and over 120,000 jobs were lost in manufacturing alone, Les Echos business daily reported Tuesday. ''A symbolic ceiling has been perforated," the paper wrote, quoting new data by economic analysis company Trendeo. Last year was the worst, with 24,000 manufacturing jobs lost as 266 plants with 10+ employees shut down throughout France, or 42% more than in 2011.
The evolution of Gerard Depardieu still makes me laugh.
When has France *not* sucked?
The head of US tyremaker Titan International has launched a brutal attack on productivity in France, telling the government that some French workers “work only three hours a day” and his company would be “stupid” to consider taking over a factory in the country
In the letter published in Wednesday’s edition of Les Echos, the French financial newspaper, Mr Taylor writes: “The French workforce gets paid high wages but work only three hours. They get one hour for breaks and lunch, talk for three and work for three. I told the French union workers to their faces. They told me that’s the French way!”
Unemployment numbers in France rose by 43,000 in January to 3.16 million, an increase of 10.7 percent from last year, the labour ministry revealed on Tuesday. The figure is at its highest since January 1997, when it reached 3.19 million.
The NSA leaker can hang in Russia with Depardieu:
