Discussion about 150 West 56th Street #PH
Elliman failed to sell this tacky POS for $100M, so now the owner himself is giving it a try.

It is indeed tacky. Even with a complete makeover though, it still has a difficult (circular!!) floorplan to deal with.

No central vac. Fail.

[Can I say "Fail." and "Epic Fail." in 2013? Is it retro yet?]

But is One57 going to block this view?

Yes. The Carnegie and Metropolitan towers were already more present in the view than you'd like, and now One57 will loom over them all.

I don't know why anybody on 56th would imagine that nothing taller would ever go up on 57th, 58th, or CPS.

I believe CPS has long been downzoned -- thus Trump's decision to renovate rather than tear down. But not the other streets.

cant believe elliman even took this overpriced listing. This owner is smoking something. Its looks real nice, if it were 1980.

8000 square feet for 100mm means $12,500 a foot which is just nuts. It's not even on a nice block.
More like $40,000 is realistic. This owner is in a for surprise. Also, the finishes are not even that nice. Nouveau at its worst.

What is a terrace like on the 73rd floor? Might be difficult to play beer pong.

Where's Jason10006 to tell us it isn't the actual 73rd floor because they skip some floors?

Thanks for another good read.

I couldn't stay in that apartment for 30 seconds without a bottle of Xanax. Even thinking of being on a terrace on the 74th floor makes me feel nauseated.

"Designed by the renowned Juan Pablo Molyneux"
"designed by the legendary architect Helmut Jahn"

Soooo.....?
And, what's better, legendary or renowned?

Should offer at $99,999,999 rather than $100,000,000. You know - want to avoid sticker shock.

This was featured on a CNBC panel with some RE agent lady. I am sure agents are watching this closely and will want to see this guy fall on his face.

It's on the seveny-something floor and no pets? Could it be the wind on that high floor might blow Fido off to Queens?

$100MM and no pets? For that price I should be able to bring my pet dinosaur, not to mention a few lions and tigers and bears. However I am an animal lover and would never subject a beast to that level of ugliness.

Shouldn't he come down 6% since there's no broker involved? Or maybe not since it has a counter depth refrigerator. At least the owner removed the Juan Pablo Molyneux reference after the designer denied that he had anything to do with that disastrous decor... He calls it a "Horror"

This is a obviously a misprint. Prime Manhattan real estate is going to cost only $500/sq ft, remember? So the property has 200,000 square feet.
