Discussion about
Friends are looking for an attorney to assist in getting security deposit back from "luxury" building with corporate landlord. Amount at issue is above small claims limit. Any recommendations?

Let me guess, Related? They stole mine when I was their tenant. They might be a good developer, but their rental management is horrific.

Their landlord was Beekman International. We liked their apt when we visited, but they warned us away. I have advised them to tell their story directly on Streeteasy, but said I would use my membership to seek lawyer recommendation for the moment since they are not (yet) members.

I am going to let them take it from here. When I checked in to tell them no recommendation (yet?), they let me know that they went ahead and joined. I am sure they will chime in when they get moment.

It's going to be hard to find an attorney to litigate this case and have the plaintiff tenants come out with money.

That is why I was wondering how much money.

I would go to small claims court, maybe each of your friends could bring a case for their half of the security deposit.

Doesn't work that way.
