MCR = NYC Novice = Foolish Renter MCR too embarrassed to admit that she was the idiot who rented at The Beekman Regent. Had settled on Lenox Hill unit when first arrived in NY but was prevailed upon to switch to ME and did not have time to sufficiently look around ME before moving in. Money was not overarching factor and Beekman Regent was easy in terms of approval process (no Board approval necessary for Sponsor rental unit so immediate approval). Everything written about building true; point was/is to alert similarly situated individuals to what they are getting into if they rent in a Beekman International/Dennis Herman building. NYC Novice was dealing with confusing situation in last rental transaction. Wanted to ask simple question without inviting MCR haters - five minutes on this site makes clear that you all keep track of who has said what. NYCNovice would not have participated in Beekman Regent discussion at all but for fact that "FoolishRenter" posts were not showing up at all due to some SE approval process for new posters. Then posts started showing up but with such a long lag that by the time they showed up, discussion was so old that intervening posts had moved discussion well beyond "recent" status. Foolish Renter is as described. We actually own at The Phillips Club and love it there but we cannot book our unit for six months solidly; to stay for six months straight, we were looking at $25K per month. Going forward, posts will appear either as MCR or as NYCNovice - depends what computer I am on because they stay automatically logged in and I am too lazy to switch. As noted, I move around a lot and cannot keep track of which computer is logged in as which identity. Note that I do not pretend that anybody cares, but I am a fairly straightforward individual, my three SE personalities notwithstanding, so to the extent anybody did notice or care, there you have it. Love the site and continue to get lots of great information as well as entertainment from it. [less]

I hope your next rental is a much more pleasant experience.
But remember, it's always better to buy than to rent. Fire your landlord!
Alan, all offers should have a sense of urgency.
Best to say,
Fire your landlord TODAY!
