Discussion about
how will this impact 1000 park avenue?
The B-line apartments with lot-line windows and AC will lose them.
Most of the F-line apartments have only a courtyard view now, looking across at the church-school building, so not much change.
As far as I can tell, the pretty old church/rectory parts on 85th and Park will remain. What's being razed/replaced is the 1960's school building on the interior of the lot, the part with the blue roof at http://goo.gl/maps/GVKtT
Wouldn't both the B Line and D Line units be affected as they both face north into the new building? ( http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424127887324492604579087520917628200.html)
Seems similar to the situation at 1112 Park where all the C Line units sold at a discount.
Right, the D-line too. The lower floors are already blocked by the school building. They'd still have their east and west courtyard windows.
Here's the original layout at 1000 Park, showing the lot-line windows to the north: http://hdl.handle.net/2027/njp.32101075432508?urlappend=%3Bseq=112
On most of the floors, the B line had an F line cut from its western end during the Depression.
Though the plans were rejected it looks like Extell is planning a major development that would cover all the lot line windows leaving the B and D units with limited windows outside of a light well. The F line wouldn't have any views at all, just staring into a brick wall across the court.
