Queens Village is a residential neighborhood with a population of 48,670 found in the eastern most part of Queens. Queens Village was founded in the 1640s as Little Plains and was incorporated as part of the City of Greater New York in 1898. In 1923, the Long Island Railroad added "Village" to its station's name to avoid confusion with the county of the same name and thereby Queens Village was born. Queens Village was part of an overall housing boom that was spreading east through Queens. Notable residents include George Gately, Charles Miller and Tevi Troy.
