Celebrity sightings are commonplace in NYC, but how many people can say they have a celebrity landlord? Baseball superstar Alex Rodriguez — who is almost as famous these days for being engaged to J-Lo as he is for being a Yankees legend — is trying to make that a real-estate reality.

A-Rod’s investment firm, appropriately called A-Rod Corp, has just gone into contract on a 14-story Manhattan rental building in Turtle Bay. Known as The Allen House, the 115-unit doorman building at 340 E. 51st St. was built in 1965 and has been undergoing renovations, which A-Rod and his partner investors intend to continue: According to the New York Post, units will be upgraded as they become vacant, and there are plans to add a gym. The building already has a brand-new laundry room.

This isn’t A-Rod’s first foray into NYC real estate, actually: He previously invested in a smaller building in the East Village — 133 Avenue D, which has just 22 units — with Corcoran Group’s Barbara Corcoran, whom he met while appearing on the TV show “Shark Tank.”

A-Rod Corp is partnered in the latest venture with Modlin Group, a boutique real-estate agency, and Stonehenge NYC, a real-estate and property-management firm.

And of course, the baseball legend and his megastar fiancée, who was just announced as this year’s Super Bowl halftime performer (along with Shakira), are already experts at the high-end apartment game. The couple bought a stellar 4,000-square-foot condo together at 432 Park Avenue in 2018, only to turn around and put it back on the market a year later. They are now in contract on that place, unit 36A, for $15.75M — 10% less than the asking price of $17.5M.

J-Lo also owns another NYC apartment that’s currently on the market: the palatial penthouse in NoMad’s 21 E. 26th St. building known as The Whitman. And you’ll never guess who has the listing: Adam Modlin of The Modlin Group. Looks like Jenny From the Block is keeping it in the (future) family!
