When he signed with the Mets back in 2005, Carlos Beltran was going to be the centerpiece slugger that brought a World Series to New York’s National League team. That never happened — and off Beltran went to San Francisco and St. Louis before coming back to New York and signing with the Yankees in 2014.

Clearly, over the course of his travels, Beltran has become a savvy real estate shopper. So this time around, the veteran outfielder/DH has decided to forego a house on Long Island for a more urban vibe in a New York City condo.

According to The Real Deal, Beltran and his wife have signed off on a penthouse purchase at 300 East 79th Street for under the $9.995 million list price. The 5-bedroom, 5-bathroom duplex is a doozy, sprawling 4,900 square feet not including a private rooftop terrace.

The UES location makes it an easy trip to the Bronx via the FDR Drive, a key transportation element for Yankees players who choose to live in Manhattan since being able to skirt NYC traffic jams can make commute times a lot faster.

Beltran and his wife, Jessica Lugo, sold their sprawling estate-like property in Sands Point on the north shore of Long Island last year for $4.48 million. Likewise, they sold their 8-bedroom home in Weston, FL for $4.1 million.

Beltran and his teammate, Alex Rodriguez, were featured in a spring training article on ESPN this week when the pair of veteran sluggers was allowed to play a minor league game at the Yankees’ Florida facility rather than travel three hours with the Major League squad on a road trip.

Like A-Rod, who has also bought and sold and rented many New York City condos, Beltran is a sultan of swat — and high-end NYC real estate.
