This Cornelia Street 1BR overlooks the townhouse that inspired Taylor Swift’s song “Cornelia Street.”

Quiet, quaint Cornelia Street runs for only one block through NYC’s West Village, but last year, Taylor Swift made it famous. Her song “Cornelia Street” commemorated the time the singer spent living in an opulent, 5,500-square-foot townhouse on that very block, complete with indoor pool, three fireplaces, and a parking garage. (She was renting while her real spread in Tribeca was being renovated.)

Our latest Rental of the Week will let you live on that block, too — and with a view overlooking Taylor’s old place. It is, however, a bit smaller, and a lot cheaper: This lovely Cornelia Street 1BR can now be yours for $2,495 per month.

Hey, you won’t have to wonder what song to play when you celebrate signing the lease!

The view from this Rental of the Week includes the townhouse Taylor Swift rented at 23 Cornelia St. in 2016, while her Tribeca home was being renovated.

Address: 18 Cornelia St. #8

Price: $2,495

Neighborhood: West Village

Best feature: Obviously, being able to tell your friends that Taylor Swift used to live across the street — and wrote a whole song about it — is the best feature. Beyond that, this apartment should make a pretty nice place to live. It’s a cozy 1-bedroom, with French doors leading to the living room that make it allegedly convertible to a 2-bedroom. The kitchen, though lacking a full-size refrigerator, has plenty of counter space. The lower surrounding buildings mean there’s lot of natural light coming in through the windows.

Why it’s a deal: Cornelia Street didn’t come cheap even before Taylor wrote about it, but this unit has come down in price twice over the last month or so — it was originally listed for $3,150 in June, so the current asking rent represents a sizable discount. It looks even better when you consider that median asking rent in the West Village for the second quarter of 2020 was $3,850

Biggest drawback: As mentioned, the kitchen here lacks a full-size fridge and a dishwasher, though it appears pretty functional otherwise. There’s only one closet, and the place certainly doesn’t qualify as large — dimensions of some rooms don’t even reach 7 feet. But hey, it’s a legit 1-bedroom in the West Village with a good price … and a great story.
