A new affordable housing lottery will make 29 new apartments in Crown Heights available at below-market rents to lucky New Yorkers who earn 60 percent of the area median income.
Located at 1511-1525 Bedford Ave., the Issac/Stern-designed rental development encompasses parcels that used to house the Fox Savoy Theater, a gas station and a vacant lot. The new building contains a total of 133 apartments, community space and a synagogue. Rents will be $816 a month for a studio, $877 for a 1-bedroom and $1,064 for a 2-bedroom unit.

The mixed-use building is eight stories tall, with approximately 15,000 square feet of retail space on the ground floor and 90,000 square feet of residential space. Building amenities include a gym, roof deck and basketball court.
