Through the NYC Department of Housing and Preservation’s affordable housing program, three new apartments in Crown Heights are now available via affordable housing lottery. The application deadline for this Crown Heights lottery is March 9, 2018.
The 1-bedroom apartments will rent for $2,250 per month to those who qualify — not appreciably less than the market-rate 1-bedroom in the building that’s currently $2,375.
Eligible applicants must earn 130 percent of the area median income, which breaks down to single persons making $77,143 to $86,840 and two-person households making $77,143 to $99,320. See the chart below.
The brand-new building has only seven units in total and is located at 615 St. John’s Place, close to the S, 2, 3, 4 and 5 trains. To apply online, visit NYC Housing Connect. To request an application by mail, send a self-addressed envelope to: MGNY Consulting, c/o 615 St John’s Place Apartments, 18 Bridge St, Suite 2D, Brooklyn, NY 11201. The deadline to apply is March 9, 2018.
