A new housing lottery was just announced for 6 affordable new units in a new boutique building in Brooklyn. Here are the details on how to apply:
- What: Housing lottery for 6 newly constructed units at 1764 Union Street in Crown Heights.
- Who can apply: Those who make 130 percent of the area median income.
- Where to apply: Apply online or through the mail. To apply online, go to NYC Housing Connect. To apply by mail, request an application by sending a self-addressed envelope and stamp to: 1764 Union, c/o Reside New York, 381 South 5th Street, Unit 1 Brooklyn, NY 11211.
- Deadline: Sept. 18, 2018.
The lottery will offer 6 units to those who qualify: one studio for a monthly rent of $1,800 a month; three 1-bedrooms for $2,050 a month and two 2-bedrooms for $2,500 a month. The income requirements range from $61,715 to $146,510, depending on household size and desired unit. See details:
Amenities include laundry and rooftop access, but additional fees may apply. This building is being built under the 421a tax abatement program, in which developers get tax breaks in exchange for offering affordable apartments. And the building is conveniently located close to the 3, 4, 5 trains a block away at Utica Ave., and Lincoln Terrace Park is located a half a block away.
