Bon appetite and all that bon vivant stuff — just look at this rich and sumptuous dish from celebrated chef David Bouley, he of the Michelin star and the gaggle of eponymous eateries (Bouley and Bouley Bakery, along with Danube, Brushstroke and Botantical).
Bouley has just listed this custom creation in the Mohawk Atelier luxury condo building at 161 Duane St. in Tribeca. The $5.5 million price shows how much appreciation and interior design has taken place at the chef’s home of 10 years.
According to 6sqft, Bouley paid $3.2 for the blank apartment in 2007, and then brought in architect and “master artisan” Claude Puaux to create a interior that references old Europe, down to the fireplace stone from the same quarry that built Versailles. Talk about a novel feature!
The duplex is not enormous at just over 2,400 square feet, but it is a truly unique space that features quarter-sawn European walnut floors and three oversized windows with walnut benches — all to take in the view of Duane Park.
The old-world luxury finishes and feel do not mean anyone will be living the rustic life. The Mohawk Atelier is full-service condo building that may look historically Romanesque on the outside, but delivers 24-hour luxury and still has tax abatements in place.
