Update, Jan. 3, 2020: Singer and former One Direction member Zayn Malik has sold his sprawling SoHo penthouse for a loss, according to property records. The unit, which Malik bought after his breakup with Gigi Hadid in 2018 and then listed for sale last summer, closed in December for $9,450,000, some 7.35% below the initial $10.8 million asking price. Malik had paid $10.7 million for the 4-bedroom unit, meaning he lost about $1.24 million in the roughly 16 months he owned the home. The sale was reported by the Real Deal.

Original post: Boy-bander-turned-solo-star Zayn Malik has a knack for making good moves after his high profile breakups. The 26-year-old Brit left the mega-group One Direction and successfully launched his own singing career. Now, the home Malik bought for fun and solace after his split with model Gigi Hadid has been listed for $10.8 million, as first reported by TMZ. Meanwhile, Gigi Hadid has been spotted on dates around New York City with Bachelorette runner-up Tyler Cameron.

Of course, if you’re a ZiGi fan, you’re well past the details about the breakup via Twitter, or Page Six. And for anyone looking for the NYC real estate realities, the breakup meant no more flopping for Zayn Malik at Hadid’s NoHo pad at 10 Bond Street.

Malik bought the fabulous 4-bedroom, 4-bathroom penthouse at 63 Greene Street in March 2018. The cast-iron, former silk-manufacturing building, which dates to 1877, underwent a massive condo conversion in 2016, which accounts for the 700-plus days that Malik’s new apartment sat on the market.

An LLC called Drop Zed was the buyer for the 3,600-square-foot penthouse, one of three on the floor. The loft is not only sprawling on the inside, but the penthouse also has an additional 1,000-square-foot terrace to expand the party.

The condo retains loads of its industrial-era charm, including high ceilings, exposed brick, and columns, but is studded with modern amenities and new architectural design elements, including an open staircase and luxurious new bathrooms.
