Far away from the land where he helps make “Modern Family” one of television’s best comedies, Jesse Tyler Ferguson (aka “Mitchell Pritchett”) has bought himself an apartment that is decidedly not fit for a Modern Family.

Ferguson has closed on a 1-bedroom, 2-bathroom co-op at 200 East 16th Street in Gramercy Park.

The old-school dwelling is 1,000 square feet and appears to be the perfect pied-à-terre for Ferguson and hubby Justin Mikita for those cross-country trips from Los Angeles to New York. Ferguson paid $1.275 million for the pad, which is one of 192 units located in the 20-story art deco building at 200 East 16th Street, putting the couple near Stuyvesant Square park and the bustling Flatiron/Union Square nabes.

Ferguson and Mikita own a Spanish Colonial in the Los Feliz section of L.A., a home that once belonged to Gwen Stefani and her husband Gavin Rossdale. Ferguson and Mikita purchased that property in 2013, around the time the longtime couple wed. [Source: 6sqft]
