An affordable housing lottery at 229 Cherry Street on the Lower East Side is now open for 204 units. This is a new development by Extell sitting on the former site of the Cherry Street Pathmark store and adjacent to One Manhattan Square. The deadline to apply is Jan. 2, 2018.
Rents will range from for $947 per month for studios to $1,017 for 1-bedrooms and $1,230 for 2-bedrooms. Applicants must earn 60 percent of the area median income, which means from $34,355 to $57,240 per year, depending on family size. See the chart below.
Amenities include an onsite resident manager, landscaped terrace, fitness center and lounge.
To apply online, first go to nyc.gov/housingconnect to register. To request an application by mail, send a self-addressed envelope to 229 Cherry Street, c/o The Wavecrest Management Team, 87-14 116th St., Richmond Hill, NY 11418.
