It’s amazing how quickly even the smallest apartment can go from clean to cringe-worthy. Especially if you work full-time, finding the time (and motivation) to tidy up can seem like a daunting endeavor. Fortunately, it’s relatively easy to keep things clean with some simple supplies and a minimal amount of effort. Invest in these five must-have cleaning products to keep your apartment spick-and-span!

1. Windex

Don’t let the name fool you. Windex is so much more than just a window cleaner. It can tackle mirrors, countertops, stainless steel, chrome, vinyl and more. Since Windex contains ammonia in the solution, it effectively kills germs in addition to improving aesthetics. Just don’t use it on wood as it could ruin the finish and discolor it. Give a few quick spritzes, wipe with a paper towel and any room is freshened up in no time. If this is the only cleaning supply you invest in, you’ll still be in pretty good shape!

2. Lysol Disinfecting Wipes

These wipes are a simple yet effective way to keep germ-prone surfaces clean and fresh. They’re perfect to use on your countertops and stovetops after cooking, especially after you’ve been handling raw meat or other sticky food products. They’re also very helpful for keeping your bathroom surfaces sanitized. A quick wipe-down of your toilet seat with one of these babies will keep your tush feeling fresh as a daisy!

3. Scrubbing Bubbles

This stuff seriously takes the work out of ridding your tub of scum and other scum-prone areas in your apartment. Spray a layer of foam onto your shower floor, tile walls, sinks, and even your toilet bowl, and let the bubbles do their thing. Within a few minutes, almost all of the dirt and scum build-up miraculously washes away. For extra tough grime, apply a bit of elbow grease with a scrub-brush or paper towel and voila! Sparkling, scum-free surfaces in no time.

4. Dust Buster

Many apartments don’t have space for a full-size vacuum cleaner. Plus, it can be a hassle to pull out the whole vacuum for every minor mess. Investing in a light-weight, cordless dust buster can be life-changing (and also pretty fun). Where you can easily shell a couple hundred dollars for a vacuum, dust busters usually top out at about $50. They are perfect for doing a quick sweep of your bedroom to eliminate unsightly dust-bunnies. Or, dust-bust after meal times to pick up crumbs and keep away mice. You can even use your dust buster in the bathroom to suck up those stubborn clumps of hair and debris that love to accumulate in the corners. I’ve even used a dust buster to suck up the dirt particles that gather in those hard to reach corners of the refrigerator drawers. Trust me, you will quickly come to love this handy little helper. Just remember to empty the filter, which can reduce sucking action if it’s too full.

5. Swiffer WetJet

Ever wake up after a party and find that your feet are sticking to the floor? Unless you’re ready to get down on all fours and do some Cinderella-style scrubbing, you’re gonna need this light-weight, low-effort mopping device. Unlike an ordinary mop, the WetJet comes with built-in cleaning solution and disposable cleaning pads, so you’ll never have to hassle with a big bucket of soapy water. Its flexible design also makes it easy to clean up sticky spills in hard-to-reach places like under the bed or behind heavy furniture.
