Want a shot at an affordable apartment? The New York City Housing Development Corporation says look north to the Bronx. A new housing development called Park House has just opened a lottery for 227 units at 4275 Park Avenue in the South Bronx.
According to NYC Housing Connect, the lottery is for qualified applicants whose annual salaries are at 40 percent and 60 percent of the area median income. That means 30 units will be offered to households with combined incomes between $18,823 for a single person up to $42,040 for a household of four people.
Another 190 units will go to earners making between $28,869 for a single person and up to $63,060 for a household of six people. Monthly rents will range from $494 for a studio up to $1,181 for a 3-bedroom unit. The building is located in the East Tremont section of the Bronx, with Metro-North service on the Tremont-Harlem line.
Park House is slated to open in 2017 and will bring another ration of affordable housing units to the South Bronx. The building will have 24-hour security/attended lobby; on-site, coin-operated laundry; a multi-purpose room; bicycle storage; patio and courtyard as well as on-site parking for additional fees.
Qualified applicants can to nyc.gov/housingconnect. To request an application by mail, send a self- addressed envelope to: Park House, PO Box 3620937, New York, NY 10129. Applications must be postmarked or submitted online no later than April 17, 2017. Late applications will not be considered.
