It’s nice to know that not everyone who’s made it big feels a need to be part of the Hamptons scene. We’re talking about Rachael Ray, the definitely-upstate girl whose Glens Falls, NY, upbringing helped make her an appealing and accessible celebrity chef.

It turns out Ray is so connected to her upstate heritage that she’s selling her sumptuous “little” Southampton estate for a reduced price of $4.69 million, trimming $210,000 from the original listing price of $4.9 million because she and her husband would rather summer in their custom home in Lake Luzerne, near Lake George. (And true to her fun-loving sense of humor, the chatty cook owns upstate property on or near “Chuckwagon Trail!”)

The Wall Street Journal reports that Ray and her husband, John Cusimano, bought the 3-bedroom, 3.5-bathroom Southampton ranch in 2008 for $2.8 million, then gussied it up with a slew of custom finishes and furnishings from Ray’s furniture line.

As the WSJ report suggests, the list price may not include all the stuff in Ray’s home. But it might make sense for any buyer to try and nab the furnishings, too — they fit the place beautifully and add a ton of elegance.

The property spans a whopping six acres and includes a pool. Brown Harris Stevens has the listing.
