What You Missed in “How to Sell Your NYC Home”

StreetEasy economist Nancy Wu analyzed price trends as 2021 comes to a close. Home values in Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Queens, for example, all increased for the first time since 2017. Likewise, low mortgage rates have renewed motivation for buyers who are considering a purchase.

Doug Perlson, Senior Director for Real Estate Strategy & Operations at StreetEasy, then demonstrated how to use key seller tools. These include the Owner Dashboard and StreetEasy Valuation. Along with other useful data, this gives sellers a private, data-informed estimate of their home’s value. Doug also supplied an overview of the StreetEasy Experts program, which matches prospective sellers with experienced listing agents.

Mike Biryla, an agent at Triplemint (and a StreetEasy Expert), shared his thoughts on whether now is the time to sell. While timing isn’t the most crucial factor, he explained, seasonal patterns regarding buyer interest do exist. He recommends listing during the fall or spring. Want to sell on your own? Mike discussed the pros and cons of partnering with an agent — your time, as well as available resources, are two important aspects to consider while making the decision.
