Best feature: First things first: This Stuyvesant Heights 2BR is big, bright, and cheap. But it’s also a recipe for roommate harmony. The supremely sharable space has one bedroom and one full bath on each floor, great for privacy. The downstairs also contains the shared living room and kitchen, both of which are beautifully appointed. (And yes, there is a dishwasher!) And the upstairs is also home to the apartment’s private rooftop terrace, which is L-shaped and plenty big enough for furniture. The whole space is flooded with sunshine, thanks to floor-to-ceiling windows. Plus, you’ll get to tell your friends you live in a penthouse! That’s just fun.

Why it’s a deal: The overall median asking rent in Bedford-Stuyvesant is $2,300, according to the StreetEasy Data Dashboard. That puts our Rental of the Week slightly above average for the neighborhood. But this unit is far above average in terms of space, finishes, and amenities. And if you share with a roommate, the cost plummets to $1,000 below the median. Now that’s a deal.

Biggest drawback: There’s no elevator in the building, which means this Stuyvesant Heights 2BR is three flights up. (Plus one more flight if you’ve got the upstairs bedroom!) In addition, it’s a half-mile hike to the nearest subway, the J/M/Z lines at Myrtle Avenue.
