This Washington Heights 2BR has some highly desirable features.

Upper Manhattan is a great place to find a little more space at a slightly lower price. Although prices in the neighborhood continue to increase, there are still plenty of deals to be found. Take the unit at 456 W. 167th St. #7E, for example. Our Deal of the Week is a 2-bedroom condo with its own washer and dryer and a private terrace.

The Price: $629,000

The median price for a 2-bedroom in Washington Heights is $649,000, a little above the asking price of our Deal of the Week. For reference, the median asking price for an apartment in all of Upper Manhattan as of October was $775,000.

Buyers who put down the minimum 10 percent down payment of $62,900 on this apartment can expect to see monthly costs of around $4,140. That includes a monthly mortgage payment of about $2,838, common charges of $520, and monthly taxes of $782.

Why You’ll Love It …

Entering the apartment, you’ll find the kitchen front and center. A large island offers plenty of counter space for cooking, eating, and entertaining. There are also newer GE appliances and granite countertops. The kitchen opens out into the bright, spacious living room, which has an oversize window and a door opening out to the private terrace. The terrace is large enough for furniture, so it’s perfect for entertaining or lounging.

The master bedroom is large enough to fit a king-size bed, in addition to a desk or dresser. It also has a walk-in closet and a northern exposure. The second bedroom is on the smaller side.

No need for hauling laundry downstairs in this place: there’s a washer and dryer in the unit. Through-wall AC in every room will keep the place cool in the summer. This condo is located in a full-service, elevator building with a fitness center, doorman, bike room, garden, and roof deck.

Location-wise, the unit is great, too: just a few blocks away from the A, C, and 1 trains at 168th Street, offering both local and express service. It’s also just down the street from Highbridge Park and the Harlem River, so it offers access to open space.

… And Why You Might Not

The listing description notes that the second bedroom can be used as a guest bedroom or office, which implies that it is on the smaller side. (It’s unclear whether it has a closet or not.) There also does not appear to be a dedicated dining area besides the kitchen island. But for a young family or anyone looking to have a bit of extra space for guests or working from home, this could be a perfect find.
