This charming studio is asking $895 less than the median for studios in the West Village.

This $2,300 West Village studio has garnered a ton of attention among renters on StreetEasy, and with good reason. It comes with modern touches and a highly coveted location on Cornelia Street, literally steps from the carriage house Taylor Swift once rented and then wrote a song about on her most recent album. With a great price and a fun celeb connection, this place comes close to a New York City dream.

Address: 30 Cornelia St. #3

Price: $2,300

Size: Studio

Neighborhood: West Village

Best feature: Thanks to a recent renovation, this studio belongs to a special class of West Village apartments that combine historic charm with modern practicality. The kitchen — spacious for a studio — contains a generous amount of storage space and thoughtful built-ins. (Though you may need a stepladder to reach that third level of cabinets!) And you can say “see you later” to your shower curtain: The bathroom, entered via a space-efficient and on-trend sliding barn door, has a glass standing shower. White-washed brick walls, a decorative fireplace, and a big window overlooking the back gardens of Cornelia Street add quintessential West Village character.

Why it’s a deal: The median rental price for a West Village studio is $3,195, and it’s $2,631 for Manhattan overall. At $2,300 per month, this unit is $895 less than average for the neighborhood!

Biggest drawback: While there is plenty of storage space in the kitchen, there is little evidence of storage space elsewhere. Renters may need to invest in closet alternatives,  like an armoire, or store some items in the kitchen. Overall, the place is small. But for the price and location, it’s a great deal — and likely one that won’t last.
