Windsor Terrace is one of the more affordable neighborhoods surrounding Prospect Park, but prices are still usually well into the seven-figure range. So when a unit in a coveted prewar building like this one comes up — for under $600K — we have to take note. Our Deal of the Week is 140 E. 2nd St. #2D, a 1-bedroom corner unit with four closets, 700 square feet of space, unique amenities, and an enviable location.

The Price: $565,000

The median asking price for a home in Windsor Terrace was $1.3 million this December, according to the StreetEasy Data Dashboard. That means our Deal of the Week is priced at less than half the median asking price for the neighborhood!

Buyers who put down the 10% minimum down payment of $56,500 can expect to see monthly payments of $4,096. This includes a mortgage payment of $3,417 and maintenance fees of $679 — fairly low by New York City standards!

Why You’ll Love It…

This 700-square-foot apartment has hardwood floors, high ceilings throughout, and both eastern and southern exposures, thanks to being a corner unit. Enter through the kitchen, which features stainless steel appliances including a dishwasher! The range, dishwasher, and some countertop space are built into an archway in the wall for a unique and customized feeling. A breakfast bar provides dining space and extra storage in the kitchen. The living area has plenty of of space for furniture and two large windows.

Down the hallway, you’ll find two closets and the recently renovated bathroom. The bathroom has been outfitted with white subway tile, a vanity with storage, and a soaking tub/shower combo. There’s also a window in the bathroom! Finally, at the end of the hallway is the king-size bedroom, with two more windows and two closets for ultimate storage. There’s also more than enough room for a work-from-home space.

This unit is located in a prewar co-op building with an elevator, pet-friendly policy, live-in super, storage, 24-hour laundry room, and bike room. It also has some fun extras, including a music room/recording studio, children’s playroom, lush garden, and common backyard. The building is also located between Greenwood Cemetery and Prospect Park, so you’ll never be too far away from green space. Neighborhood shops and restaurants are located right on the street, and the F and G trains are just three blocks away at the Fort Hamilton Parkway stop.

…And Why You Might Not

There aren’t many red flags in this unit, considering the building, amenities, and location. There isn’t much room for a proper dining space, but that’s par for the course for most NYC one-bedrooms. The placement of the fridge is also a little awkward (not visible in the listing photos, but see the floorplan for where it’s placed). All in all, this Windsor Terrace beauty is definitely worth checking out!
