About
Designed by renowned architect J. E. R. Carpenter and completed in 1928, 1060 Fifth is a handsome pre-war cooperative, converted in 1953, with a limestone base distinguishing the first three floors and a brown brick, neo-Italian Renaissance-style facade demarcating the remainder of the building. Rhythmic arches, fluted pilasters, decorated panels with escutcheons and foliation further distinguish Carpenter’s design. The side street entrance on the north corner of 87th Street leads into one of the most elegant lobbies on Fifth Avenue.
