About
Carnegie Hill Classic
1356 Madison Avenue, also known as the Elmscourt, is an elegant pre-war cooperative building located between 95th and 96th Streets in the heart of Carnegie Hill. The six-story building was designed in 1899 by New York architect Frederick Jacobson in the Renaissance Revival style, which likened the buildings to the elegant and luxurious structures of sixteenth-century Rome. The Elmscourt was designed as part of a small complex with another building, the Woodbury, located around the corner at 27 East 95th Street.
