About
140 Fifth Avenue, formerly the Corn Exchange Bank Building, designed by Robert Maynicke circa 1899. It replaced a townhouse with a garden at the corner of 19th and Fifth Avenue. 140 Fifth Avenue is part of Flatiron’s historic landmark district called “Ladies Mile”. The building was converted in 1977 to 19 residential lofts. There are 12 original stories and the penthouse unit created an additional 13th floor. Its architectural features include beautiful cornices, carved stoned and terra cotta details.
