About

Vincent Astor 530 East 86th Street as a rental building for his friends. He hired Charles A. Platt and built it in 1928. It was converted into a cooperative in 1950. With its limestone base, red brick façade and beautiful bay windows, this is a stately building off of East End Avenue. The original apartments had terrazzo marble floors in the bathrooms, loggia and elevator hallways. The room proportions are very gracious and there is a lot of flexibility with the floor plan to incorporate maid’s rooms into the kitchen.
