854 West 180th Street is a six-story prewar elevator apartment building consisting of 48 large one and two bedroom units. The building enjoys a premier Upper Manhattan location west of Ft. Washington Avenue, occupying the southeast corner of West 180th Street and Cabrini Boulevard. It is the most westerly building on 180th street affording open views over the Hudson River and the George Washington Bridge to mid and upper floor units. The building exhibits excellent curb appeal, as its many pre-war details remain intact including: metal faux balconies, decorative stone lintels with stylized keystones, and limestone first floor exterior cladding. The lobby tile floors, floor-to-ceiling marble wall coverings, and chandelier lighting are set against an ornate ceiling. The building is located one block south of 181st Street, recognized as an emerging retail and entertainment corridor in Northern Manhattan. Retail establishments located on 181st street include Starbucks, GNC, Vitamin Shoppe, Modell’s, Radio Shack, and numerous boutique cafes and restaurants. The property is located one block north of the George Washington Bridge bus terminal. The terminal has begun a $180 million upgrade which will increase its retail footprint fourfold to 120,000 square feet.
Among the main draws to the neighborhood for new residents is the ease of commuting to the major Manhattan employment centers. Transportation to Midtown Manhattan from the property is excellent as it is located approximately one block from the 181st Street Subway Station that features the “A” subway train. The “A” train enables commuters to use an express train service that facilitates commuting to mid-town Manhattan in approximately 25 minutes and to the Financial District in approximately 40 Minutes. The “1″ train, located four blocks east, provides local train service for commuters and access to midtown locations.
