Joe Alvarez received an MA in Education from Columbia University and a BA in Music from the University of Southern California.

A third generation real estate professional, Joe has specialized in residential real estate in Manhattan since 2009. He has a deep understanding of the city's distinctive properties and respect for his clients' diverse cultures and needs. Living in California, Texas, Mexico and New York, and traveling extensively over the years has given him a keen appreciation of the excitement and challenges of moving to a new city and finding the perfect home.

Joe began his real estate career as an in-house agent for a luxury developer in Manhattan before venturing into re-sales at prominent NYC residential real estate firms. By aligning himself with New York's leading brokerage company, Douglas Elliman, he is excited to focus on new development sales with the industry's best support and resources.

Prior to real estate, Joe spent many years as an acclaimed opera singer. He brings the same extreme focus, discipline and creativity to his real estate work, and has won well-deserved praise from his many satisfied clients.

Joe speaks fluent Spanish and English, and is conversant in French and Italian. His diverse background in Music and Education, combined with his extensive experience, enable him to inspire the critical thinking needed to help clients choose a home that best fits their unique needs.

A longtime Upper West Side resident, Joe has undergone the co-op purchase process personally and enjoys navigating his clients through these complexities. When not working, he attends classical music performances at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center, and opera performances around the country
