Discussion about
Taking proposals for venue.
No idea - pick a place
What do these meetups entail?
I've never been to one, but I certainly would not ask "what do these meetupe entail?" i sort of think that if you ask that question, you probably don't want to (or shouldn't( be there.
Well, usually everyone gives blood, and if enough people show up the NYC RE market can be brought back to life.
No, wait: people drop their house keys in a bowl when they arrive, have a few drinks, and then take different keys when they leave and have to find the NYC apartments they belong to. Keys are marked by borough, so that makes things a little bit easier.
Everyone drinks Sam Adams and hates on Fort Greene.
Damn, I'll be out of town that night. I bet the gathering would be fun.
Next time, how about we all meet at some scheduled open house, somewhere that's slashed its ask by 40%? We could play "Guess who's an SE poster?"
Hey ph41 how would I know if I don't want to be there if I've never been to one before?
P.S. your first post here "No idea - pick a place" makes it pretty evident that you are useless to your fellow man. How about we have this meetup in that empty space you call your head, there will be a maximum occupancy of 500 people though.
sounds like fun. How about a picnic in central park -- weather permitting.
can't do it. school obligation. next time.
why doesnt SE pick up the tab and use it as a FOCUS group and the pros/cons of using streeteasy......
Let's meet midtown I'm up for it
cc: any suggestions?
HH11231, we have sex orgies and get cracked up. Somebody might as well level with you.
Can I play flute?
{Manhattan real estate agent.}
sure, the flesh flute
I'm in! I hear good things about Casellula, but it doesn't seem well-suited to a group unless we try to do a private party. Don't know a great deal about midtown.

>>How about we have this meetup in that empty space you call your head, there will be a maximum occupancy of 500 people though <<
That was pretty funny.
I'm in!
As an aside: you've got mail
probably can't do it b/c we're in the holiday crush, but my thoughts will be with everybody ..
ali r.
{downtown broker}
how do i maintain my anonymity?--other than to pretend im rachcarolshrimpypork
how about an UWS wine bar. bin 71? barcibo enoteca?
Both Bin 71 & Barcibo get crowded and you can't make reservations.
I think it would be more fun if we just did a BYOB, picked a random Open House on Sunday, 9/27 and all showed up between .... say noon and 2pm. The actual prospects would probably love that a few drunks are wondering around trying to figure out who is Jerkstore, who is happyrenter .....
yessssss
we could all just get comfy in the living room of the biggest UES spread O/H we can find, and proceed to meet and greet. would be so hilARious..
I'm there!!!!!
Could do BYOB in Riverside Park, if we're very, very careful and just bring Bota boxes. Or we could go to the Boat Basin.
scoots! Funny.
boat basin sounds good. or we can do an outlaw party on the subway or a fast food restaurant, gentleman start your boomboxes.
FULL BAR!!! my only request
and belly dancers...thats it. two requests.
wait, and masseuse that gives 10 min neck rubs..
ok, now im done
Aw man I'm going ot be out of town on the 1st :( But this is a great idea. I hope you guys do it again soon.
"FULL BAR!!! my only request

I've got a bunch of free passes for The Hustler Club.............
I bet Madoff's place could have once fulfilled all of Urbandigs' requests.
I'm working on a location right now, bigger than the previous place and no minimum charge. It won't be the Boat Basin or an O/H. Sorry to disappoint.
We're gonna have to relocate to the East Village if we want belly dancers. I'm nixing the hustler club, though. Sorry to be a killjoy, but not so fun for some of us.
nyc10023: You can use my LR as a fallback option. The sponsor has imported some highly aggressive, mutant mice to run us out, but they don't drink much.
Am i invited?
Galway Hooker
http://www.galwayhookernyc.com/
perfect
7 E 36th - two levels, comfortable, fun, good crowds, full bar, pool tables, big.
it is perfect....i live nearby...in murray hill!
Yes to Galway Hooker sounds great (I know where it is). Easy walk from the 1,2,3 for the West side contingent and great for the rest of us.
Is this still on?
I have no venue, ph41. Wine & Roses was a bit cramped the last time.
galway hooker?
Lizyank - you mean the 7th Ave location, right?
I'm there - UD- perfect for me. What time? 36th street - right?
nyc10023 - I think the Galway Hooker is on east 36th - midway between 5th and Madison
Take some pictures and post them on Flicker please!
Eeh! I scheduled a meeting at 7 on the 1st! How did that happen? Will you still be going at 9:30?
Peter Griffin will be making fart jokes the whole time.
On second thought, I have to be at work by 8 on Friday, so going out at 9:30 is not a wise plan. Blast. Me and my dumb refusal to sync calendars...
so galway hooker on e36th on oct 1st? what time? come on guys i am really looking forward to this. if no one comes i will be walking up to strangers asking is your name UBOTTOM? TENEMENTAL? 30 YEARS?
bueller... bueller...
Okay, I'm in. Oct 1st, 8pm. Galway Hooker (on 36th street). It is easiest if UrbanDigs shows up as he is so recognizable. I am a heavily pregnant short woman.
short pregnant women.. I'm THERE!!!!
Sorry, but nanny is away and wife is on call that week and training for nyc marathon... and if i don't post 100 posts on SE a day.. the planet will explode....
totally forgot...ill make it there though
Bump - Galway Hooker on E36th St., tomorrow, I'll be there 8pm.
Ph41, don't back out. W81, NWT, patient09, W67, 30yrs, steve(s), NYCMatt, glamma, dwell, ev, ccharley - if I can do it on a school night, so can you!
Gee, we could have trashed my apartment - we're finally moving out/closing next week. But Thursday nights I go to Westchester to see my mom. I'll miss it again.
Rhino? Juiceman - don't use new baby as an excuse.
Trinity - ah, too bad. Doesn't it feel nice to move out and start somewhere new? I'm (slightly) addicted to moving.
should I plug this urbandigs? running out. let me know.
Please. I don't want to be the only other person there.
what time is it at? i have a church function from 630 to 8......it would be interesting to put faces to the names........
I'll be there at 8pm - it's in your nabe, no excuses.
I'd like to go, but E 36th? Sheesh...
I would have preferred DT or HK, but I ran out of ideas for venue.
Alanhart: can you make it at 8?
Since we now learn the "school obligation" impacts quite a few members of the SE community would it not be wise to reschedule? Are we on the hook for a reservation/commitment? Or can we just send out an emergency postponment. I know we will never be able to reach 100% alignment on a convenient day but if this doesn't work for a great many people due to an "indisputable obligation", maybe we should rethink it.
how about we have the meet up in nyc10022's fifth floor walk up?
is it parent-teacher night?
I can do next Wed. or Thurs.
nyc10023: sorry I didn't respond sooner. Yes, I can make it at 8. Next W or Th are also good.
Let's not change it then.
glamma, middle school curriculum night. and most have dinners after.
but no need to change. parents of those kids are probably not a significant number. have fun!!
? I thought you were in.
E 36th? I don't think I'll fit down there. Too narrow. I can barely swing my big belly uptown.
sadly, i have curriculum night. but my thoughts are with you, i may try to stop by after if time allows. uwsmom, spaces tend to be larger down here, not smaller.
10023 - Get out. You're preggers too? More heavily pregnant than moi? Is this #4 (or is 3 kids a fake SE persona)? Congrats!!! Hope you're feeling good. I wonder if we've bumped bellies anywhere?!
ar - i was thinking it narrowed down a bit but that isn't really until downtown.
Due Thanksgiving (Nov. 25th). #3. No-one even notices I'm pregnant. I'm packing in as many social things before then.
Fabulous. Congrats again! You're due one week before me, and I have to say I'm as big now as I was with #1 at 9 months. big baby maybe? who knows. Be well!
I will text you, AR. I have been told to hold the weight gain (I am that rare exception to the easy 2nd labor & recovery rule) for an easier labor.
I have been told to eat cheese :)
late to the thread and lazy.
Can anyone tell me the final meeting place and time?
is this it?
Okay, I'm in. Oct 1st, 8pm. Galway Hooker (on 36th street). It is easiest if UrbanDigs shows up as he is so recognizable.
i sometimes think that i didn't have another kid because the first was so easy. three weeks early, four hours start to finish. healthy baby.
uwsmom, cheese? runny, blue, hard, soft. rarely met a cheese i didn't like.
and 10023, thanks for the texting offer. maybe i can make it (lizyank, hold strong, like you i'm a wimp now, but i'd LOVE to meet you).
AR: that was me. #1 - 3.5 weeks early, 2 hours start to finish. #2 - 2 days early, 7 hours start to finish. #3 - ?
Lizyank: I am not scary at all. My partner is very insistent I look behind me and that no-one follows me home.
Fgold: yes. I will be there at 8pm and wait around a bit.
10023, you have some definite takers. sorry i can't be there at the start, but i'm betting cccharley and UD will give you some great conversation until others arrive, and starting at 8 means more can arrive early, so to speak. btw, did you respond to Noah? he's willing to post the event on UD. something to consider.
what i found to be quite lovely at the last gathering is that we had people who had only posted rarely, who came to talk and meet. they read, and they listen, but they don't necessarily post that often. and they hopefully will show up again (wishhouse and jfritz i'm talking to you and yours.)
ar - exactly. 10023 - doesn't sound like you have any l&d problems, though, from what doc says, better chances of progressing well if baby is small (rather than large). My #1 was breech c/s. I'll just be happy to l & d, even if it takes me days ;)
Gosh - I would love to meet everyone... well most... well some...., but i just can't do it.
Uwsmom: :) on the days of labor. I was begging for an epidural after 10 mins of labor with #1, except that nobody believed that I could be in "transition" after 10 mins at home. By the time I got to the hospital, they were all freaked out because I was pushing and didn't know that this was it.
Yeah, I'm not pausing my gym membership and alarming all the other people in spin class with my belly. Now, I'm REALLY outed to the lurkers.
you're one of those freaks of nature ;)
Duly noted, uwsmom. This baby will probably take days to emerge and be 10lbs+.
bump
I'm going to try to be there - would like to meet all the posters I've been reading.
Falco - not coming to stalk you - I promise
ill be there around 7:30PM...may be incoherent by 8PM..dunno...depends on what kind of scotch they have
its 2 levels...so I think we should meetup on lower level..i think upper level might be too confusing for many people, especially perma bulls
"upper level might be too confusing for many people, especially perma bulls"
... LMAO!!!
I'm only 5000 miles away...would love to attend though. Next time.
mimi, no excuses!
Falco - I forgot - you would like your own stalker - meet you there.
I'll have my piñata stick handy if I can make it. Everyone loves candy.
Wow, Mimi, where are you?
