The key phrase here, boys and girls, is...

"Co-op and condo owners will pay 10.3-percent more. The average co-op resident's tax bill will go from $4,467 to $4,930 and condo owners from $6,422 to $6,874."

Ouch.

patient, sadly the time is long past for that concept. the alternative is to bail out the states. any takers?

the bills have to get paid somehow. cut government spending (certain entitlements would be fair game without any immediate deflationary impact) and you cut jobs. sadly the government(s) (or governmentz if you're w67th) are a huge employer in this country.

you do realize how relatively low this is? given current valuations in the city?

i pay over $12000 on a place assessed at $440,000 upstate.

AR: OOOOkkkkaaaaYYY then...keep shorting dollars....keep buying Australia.....turn on the printing press....It's official...Once there were only children in the White House and Congress....Then Albany, Now Tammany Hall.

In a funny sort of way. recently..When Schumer was confronted with the same issues. His only reply was...well.."It will work out, because it always does and people love America."

Like all targets, I prefer to be a moving tax target. A 'homeowner' is like a blind mallard with a broken wing with his webbed feet tied to a stake. Oh yeah, the hunter's got a 12 gauge over and under.

10023, there are easier ways to make money than forex. although had i been in i would have done one thing good and one thing bad, so a wash. corporate debt would have been good, shorting equities would have been bad.

Usa vs. Afghanstan,? Vs. Norway (speeding ticket based on income), vs north korea (tree bark is the 3 rd food group) vs . Canada ( must add an 'ay' after every comment) vs. China ( nothing like a billion mouths to feed on a daily basis), vs france ( they talk funny, biggest racist) vs. Japanese ( Asian equivalents of french) vs. Phillipines ( dog is a staple), vs. Australia ( bunch of intolerant hooligans with questionable ancestry). So I'm stuck with the good ole USA, a country that took us in when our own kicked us out. As long as I can get a dollar meal by collecting 20 coke cans from the unemployed I bankers in their $1mm 1 bdrms, I'll keep my passport.

hell, w67th, for some utterly unknown reason as a child i would only eat the filet-o-fish. for years. you just made me queasy.

but it was weird. i was at the local mcd's picking up our daughter's once a week fix and some harridan came in asking for an advertised (widely, tv and print) special and was informed that the hoity-toity mcd's in the phillipe starck 23rd street branch wasn't honoring same. and then i noticed no more dollar menu. and then i just read that the burger king franchises are rebelling at the parent company's specials as well. dissention in the fast-food ranks doesn't bode well.

deflation is a bitch. particularly when the price of commodities is increasing. what to do? fire people and make those who still have a job work harder for less.

So you join cop as 21 yo, work 20 yrs, never draw your revolver, milk the last three years as friends call in sick so you have to do overtime ($120k), and bingo $60k plus cola for the rest of your life at 41 yo. It's amazing the kind of mony Britney spears blows, but you thE saying. Sell sex with no talent when you are young and life off the royalties for the rest of your life.

who are you all to be criticizing a form of protein? suspect though it may be.

i eat mcd's now less than once a month. on our way home from dinner we sometimes pick up mcd's for our very tall, very active daughter. she's over 5'9" at 12 and a size 4 so i'm not so worried about the calories here.

but as someone who hit 230 pounds, and who knew the rules, i'd say life isn't always so easy.

I get a double Filet o' Fish at least once per week. Easy, inoffensive, goes well with a gin-and-tonic, and is right there at the corner when I stagger home from work at 8 p.m. I do try to take the freight elevator up, though, not wanting to inflict that other-people's-McDonald's smell on the neighbors.

Real Estate owners have made a decision to invest in the city and make it their home. The city is ruining it's tax base because real estate taxes is the easies source of revenue and the politicians don't have the courage to do the right thing. Of course renters take delight in this.

report abuse p09, i was put on paxil for post-partum depression (after being hospitalized for same).

I have a lawyer who keeps writing about "same". Normal people don't write or speak that way only people who want to look smarter than the rest. Anyway, that I guess can be forgiven as just a quirk. It is better than lying. (I mean sarcasm).

report abuse stakan, give me an f'ng break. i'm fully aware that life is not about me, but this thread has been way too much about me. hsf is ALL about me. pitiful.

Maybe because you reveal too. In this thread we know know about your weight, your daughter's age and weight, your mental history, how often you eat McDonalds ...

Hey speaking of, I've still never got the explanation from you why you don't tolerate some liars and do tolerate other liars. Can you help explain?

Thanks

hfscumm,

Why do you constantly seek validation/toleration from others?

Jimstreeteasy: It is the pension fund boondoggle that NY is going to have to eventually deal with but the govt is a giant wuss. I think the police and firemen are noble beings and deserving of monetary gain. However, the excesses and fraud in the pension system is inexcusable. If there is a pay czar, there should be a pension czar. Eventually property tax payers will revolt that they are the go-to source of revenue. homeowners are a wheel that needs to start organizing and squeeking like mad. I think this is only the beginning of the tax hikes -- see CA. Govt cronies will only reform pension funds as as a last, end of the world scenario.
