NYState Publishing Requirement for LLC - Advice!

Has anyone who has purchased a property through an LLC had good experience (or bad) with dealing with NY State's publishing-notice-in-a-newspaper requirement? If you have done it on your own, is it a brutal process? Have you dealt with a third-party company to do it (which I might add we have received tons of mail correspondence about, all in varying degrees of cost, which puzzles me even further -why $50 with one company vs $900 with another???). Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
