150th St. btwn Amsterdam and Convent-Ham. Heights

Is anyone familiar with this area? Is it safe? I know the police are 1 block over on 151st, and there is a big Episcopal church on 149th Street, but then I have also heard that above 145th street is not safe. I noticed there are 2 new condo buildings on this block, but apparently they have not sold their units. Why is that? Thanks!
