Terrible noise and building maintenance

If you want a quiet place to live, look elsewhere. Constant noise everywhere - endless police and firetrucks on Broadway, and construction noise on Amsterdam. But the worst is construction within the building. Every week it seems someone is renovating and the drilling is nonstop. The apartment doors slam easily and people aren't shy about banging theirs at full volume. Frequent outtages of water and heat/AC. The building hasn't been renovated in almost 50 years and seems to be falling apart at the seams. Management is kind but completely ineffective. It took over a year to renovate a small lobby, and well over a year to build a tiny fitness room (which as of this writing is still uncompleted). In short, good location, bad building.
