Creating a co-op to build a building?

I was wondering if such a thing is done and, if so, where do you go about finding people who are interested in this. I'm interested in partially financing a building so I can build something I'd like, but don't want/can't afford to build the entire building (I'm talking probably a 5 floor building.) Is such a thing done?
