Impact of a guaranteeing an apartment on credit report

so we will likely need to apply for a mortgage in ~ 2-3 months time. my sister needs a guarantor on her apt and the landlord is insisting (despite our willingness to provide W-2s, and all relevant financial info and history) on running our credit. a)will becoming a guarantor have an impact on our ability to obtain a mortgage? b)will having the landlord run our credit impede on our ability to obtain a mortgage?
