I think that someone was being a wiseguy. There's a lot of that on this site though over all the info is excellent. I think that Brooklyn has a bright future. Go over there and hang A LOT & then make your decision & ENJOY ! ! ! !

have lived in bklyn 48 years. It has always had its own idenity. Lately, its is being marketed as the little manhattan that could, or maybe can not. Brooklyn is Brooklyn, always has and always will be. If you like it buy, but if you expect it to turn into manhattan,you in for a rude awakening.

It's because the manhattanites have discovered brooklyn en masse that forums like these are flooded with over-anxious questions like 'Is Park Slope safe'? That is an invitation for ridicule. If you're still not sure and you need anonymous forum posters to make your real estate decisions for you, then it's a free for all. I don't mean you, but the numerous posters on this and other boards who seem to be looking for assurance from total strangers.

Brooklyn is wonderful but it's not manhattan and never will be.

pAr Slope is very safe and will be for as long as anybody here knows. We tried to buy there, but could not find the right place and we have a young child.

I think it is wise to ask for other opinions, you know that people on this site will also be interested in talking RE and I've found that, despite some wiseguys & whackjobs, this community is informed, intelligent & caring. Real Estate is a HUGE investment & why wouldn't we seek info from others who are already in the trenches?

Park Slope is a very desirable neighborhood that a lot of people would kill for if they could afford to live there. Questions about its safety are insulting. People don't ask if the UES is safe either.
