Discussion about
http://www.streeteasy.com/nyc/sale/182285-condo-135-west-14th-street-chelsea-new-york With a 10% down, 30 year mortgage at 6.5%, total monthly payment for this comes to $15,212, which is 60% MORE than what the same unit rents for currently ($9,500 and probably going down). So tell me again why is it worth buying at these prices....?

3 of the apartments in contract reentered the market in the past few weeks. I suspect they were held back by the owner for his own use.

I expect it to be close to impossible getting a mortgage from any bank given NONE of the apartments are in contract to this point.

There are other buildings in the area that offer a better alternative.

In addition, as you say, the current pricing makes no sense and probably needs to come down at least 30%.

This building is a HIGH risk.

you should see the unit in person. then you will know why they might not be able to even give these away.
